With a one day shoot, we would need to capture content for two different campaigns that would respectively resonate with their audience in China and an audience in the US. For the campaign in China, we created a series of several short videos hosted by the popular Chinese talk show host Gu Da Bai Hua where he would speak to David about what made him the man he is today through the topics of passion, hard work, fashion, family, and a taste for beauty and adventure. This video series was primarily positioned to be played on the popular Chinese apps WeChat, Weibo, and QQ through a fully integrated brand experience. For the US campaign, we created energetic teaser celebrating David Beckham’s visit to Shanghai for his whisky, Haig Club, that was used to continue pushing the brand in the US. Even more effective, was a short 60 second spot where we captured a wonderful touching moment where David spoke about the passing of his grandfather and what it meant to him and his whisky-making. You can see this film below. MY ROLE Full-scale creative developent from a small creative brief all the way through production and post. After viewing AKQA’s brief, I created a large pitch presentation, worked with producers for the shoot in China, and took the project straight to camera. In China we scouted several locations across two cities: Shanghai and Shenzhen, based on David’s schedule. After working with international crews and producers, I directed the talent, shoot, and captured a healthy array of assets. For post, I immediately edited the teaser and US-based films as a tonal starting off point to show both agency and the editors in China, and then worked with side-by-side with the Chinese editors to complete the array of Chinese short video assets for their campiagn. Engineer: Stephane Guyot Music: Toothfairy&nbsp;Composer: Carl Lehne THE ARCHIVE BACKGROUND “Hundreds of years, laid out before you.” This short film is a result of one concept I’ve always wanted to explore with Children's Aid since the first day I stepped foot in their office. One wall of their lobby consisted of a giant mural showing black and white photographs from the beginnings of the organization back in the 1800s. These murals stopped me in my tracks. They helped me grasp the magnitude of the organization’s legacy and how much a part of New York City’s DNA it truly is. As the fabric and communities of the city have evolved and grown, Children’s Aid has with it, entwined. Imagine the stories, struggles, and achievements since 1853 waiting to inspire current generations. This single experience is what we built our second film with The Children’s Aid Society off of. I titled it The Archive.&nbsp;By juxtaposing archival images from the past and combining them with cinematic vignettes from the present, we wanted to create a powerful film that shows the viewer the true soul of The Children’s Aid Society while showing the ways in which it has grown and evolved to meet today’s challenges.&nbsp; This job was especially exciting because I was able to a few days in their archive room, pouring over old photographs, paintings, and more. I also was able to investigate the archives with white gloves and all at the New York Historical Society. It was a truly memorable experience for me. Budget cuts and sources of funding threatened nonprofits all over the country, forcing them to do more with less, during a time where many communities were struggling more than ever. This was our chance to show how Children's Aid dealt with this dilemma and still stayed strong delivering services to their community despite the circumstances. As a production company, this also became one of our first remote shoots, where I had to direct from afar due to new production guidelines and the safety of our crew and talent. Our Wonderful Crew BACKGROUNDWorking closely with Warner Bros. and Facebook, we created an exclusive 360° trailer that reveals the first up close and personal views of the Batmobile, ahead of the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Briefed by Facebook to create an exclusive 360 trailer of the Batmobile, we delivered a richly textured cinematic experience that reveals stunning details about the iconic supercar.From 3D capture through to CGI reconstruction and final 360 delivery, Territory set out to give the viewer unprecedented access to the fine details only a personal inspection of the Batmobile could offer. With the aim to capture extreme amounts of photo-real detail, from dirt and dust, to scratches and dents in the Batmobile’s bodywork, the team worked with a multi-camera photogrammetry rig, directed by Andrew Gant, that made several passes around the vehicle.On iOS and Android mobile devices, the viewing angle of a 360 video is changed by dragging a finger across the screen or by navigating with the device. When watching a 360 video on a computer, the viewing angle is changed by dragging with the mouse. The video is also compatible with Samsung Gear VR devices. Our video garnered over 1 million views and 30,500 shares on facebook a week before the movies launch.Under Peter’s direction, the various components were modeled, animated and rendered and finally brought together into one continuous sequence. The final delivery is a seamless and absolutely authentic recreation of the Batmobile in the Batcave, that invites users to choose a camera point of view to explore the environment in a way not possible before this 360 technology existed. We had only $5K, so I decided to take on the producing, directing, and editing all on my own, and try and put all the budget towards beautiful visuals, a good stage, and one location. However, I also tried to look at this challenge as an opportunity, to also create some branded content,that could lead both the band and I towards more work and a bigger budget for the next video. What resulted was gorgeous music video for 7Horse with a branded product and an emotional :30 second spot for Triumph Motorcycles. Alongside my day job, I aimed to create a platform on my free time where fans, developers, and Panic could all interact, leveraging my skills in content creation, community management, and marketing. Thus, Tiny Yellow Machine was born—a now thriving project that continuiously educates me on significance of marketing, social media, and the power of community in just one year. This experience has enriched my career in all aspects, deepened my connection to indie gaming, and fueled my determination to make a positive impact in the Playdate community's growth. With a one day shoot, we would need to capture content for two different campaigns that would respectively resonate with their audience in China and an audience in the US. For the campaign in China, we created a series of several short videos hosted by the popular Chinese talk show host Gu Da Bai Hua where he would speak to David about what made him the man he is today through the topics of passion, hard work, fashion, family, and a taste for beauty and adventure. This video series was primarily positioned to be played on the popular Chinese apps WeChat, Weibo, and QQ through a fully integrated brand experience. For the US campaign, we created energetic teaser celebrating David Beckham’s visit to Shanghai for his whisky, Haig Club, that was used to continue pushing the brand in the US. Even more effective, was a short 60 second spot where we captured a wonderful touching moment where David spoke about the passing of his grandfather and what it meant to him and his whisky-making. You can see this film below. MY ROLE Full-scale creative developent from a small creative brief all the way through production and post. AKQA approached us with a basic campaign idea and found me through my branded content work with celebrities and alcohol. After viewing their brief, I created a large pitch presentation, worked with producers on a proper budget to shoot in China, and took the project straight to camera. In China we scouted several locations across two cities: Shanghai and Shenzhen, based on David’s schedule. After working with international crews and producers, I directed the talent, shoot, and captured a healthy array of assets. For post, I immediately edited the teaser and US-based films as a tonal starting off point to show both agency and the editors in China, and then worked with side-by-side with the Chinese editors to complete the array of Chinese short video assets for their campiagn. Bros. and Facebook, we created an exclusive 360° trailer that reveals the first up close and personal views of the Batmobile, ahead of the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Briefed by Facebook to create an exclusive 360 trailer of the Batmobile, we delivered a richly textured cinematic experience that reveals stunning details about the iconic supercar.From 3D capture through to CGI reconstruction and final 360 delivery, Territory set out to give the viewer unprecedented access to the fine details only a personal inspection of the Batmobile could offer. With the aim to capture extreme amounts of photo-real detail, from dirt and dust, to scratches and dents in the Batmobile’s bodywork, the team worked with a multi-camera photogrammetry rig, directed by Andrew Gant, that made several passes around the vehicle.On iOS and Android mobile devices, the viewing angle of a 360 video is changed by dragging a finger across the screen or by navigating with the device. When watching a 360 video on a computer, the viewing angle is changed by dragging with the mouse. The video is also compatible with Samsung Gear VR devices. Our video garnered over 1 million views and 30,500 shares on facebook a week before the movies launch.Under Peter’s direction, the various components were modeled, animated and rendered and finally brought together into one continuous sequence. The final delivery is a seamless and absolutely authentic recreation of the Batmobile in the Batcave, that invites users to choose a camera point of view to explore the environment in a way not possible before this 360 technology existed.
